SAN DIEGO -- Amid an apparent slowdown in the wireless handset business, Dataquest Inc. may alter its bullish forecast for 2000, but not for 2001--at least for now.
In an interview at the "Dataquest Semiconductors 2000" conference here, analyst Stan Bruederle of Dataquest said that the worldwide handset market will grow from 290 million in terms of unit shipments in 1999, to 434 million in 2000, to 567 million by 2001.
Those projections were originally made earlier this year. Bruederle said he has not changed his bullish forecast for 2001, but 2000 is still a moving target.
"It's looks like the 2000 forecast will be a little lower," he said, without elaborating.
